Fireworks haulers seek hours relief during Independence Day holiday period
The American Pyrotechnics Association has submitted a petition to add four new members to its existing hours exemption during the Independence Day holiday period. A separate fireworks hauler, Extreme Logistics, has also requested an HOS exemption for its 12 drivers during the same holiday period.

Fireworks haulers seek ELD exemption for Independence Day period
If granted the exemption, APA members that already hold the 14-hour HOS exemption would be able to continue using paper logs instead of ELDs. Approximately 51 of APA’s 250-plus member companies hold the exemption.

FMCSA extends HOS exemption for two fireworks haulers
The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration announced its decision Thursday to renew the hours-of-service exemptions for drivers of fireworks haulers Illumination Fireworks and ACE Pyro, allowing them to drive beyond the 14th hour of coming on duty.
