Are you a natural gas truck owner-operator?

Overdrive's brand-new June issue features our quarterly section devoted to the severe service niche that's heavy this time around on coverage of natural-gas-powered engine technology, leading with the story of a Chicago ready-mix concrete outfit that's put down big investments in natural gas Kenworth W900s. What does your fuel surcharge look like?

A poll that asks for owner-operators' thoughts on the use of fuel surcharges as a cushioning agent against spikes in fuel prices sparked some discussion on Facebook last week. Models of efficiency: Introducing Fikes O/O Scott Grenerth

Finley, Ohio-based owner-operator Scott Grenerth, 40, I met in Nashville the day I ran with Jazzy Jordan (she's nearing Statesville, N.C., now -- go go go!). He was in the area headed to a pickup and brought his cycle out (pictured) to ride along as we ran. Turned out he was in the area frequently, and he's lately discovered the great Shelby Bottoms Greenway, which runs along the Cumberland River for several miles from Shelby Park, with a bridge ...
