The national average retail diesel price fell 5.1 cents to $3.846 a gallon – the lowest price in five months.
Diesel prices averaged $2.98 a gallon last summer.
Diesel likely will cost 41 cents more on average during 2011 than it did during 2010.
The current price is the highest since $3.482 in Oct. 20, 2008, and 56.2 cents above a year ago.
For a third consecutive week, the average weekly on-highway diesel price increased to a two-year high.
The current price is the highest since $3.288 in October 2008.
The national average price jumped 3.5 cents to $3.197, after falling 2.2 cents the previous two weeks.
The national average price fell 0.9-cent to $3.162, after falling 1.3 cents the previous week.
