Arch Wood Protection driver Randy Garrett was named December 2011 Trucker Buddy of the Month, nonprofit educational outreach Trucker Buddy International announced. Jennifer Austin, a fourth-grade teacher at Demorest Elementary School in Demorest, Ga., nominated Garrett for the award for his volunteer efforts with the students in her class. The nonprofit outreach seeks to encourage students' scholastic achievement and promotes a positive image of the trucking industry.

Petro opens in Carnesville, Ga.

A new Petro Stopping Center has opened at Interstate 85, off exit 150, in Carnesville, Ga., TravelCenters of America said. The stop has 250 truck parking spaces, 12 diesel lanes, 18 showers, a Petro Lube service shop with five bays, a truck wash, weigh scale, driver’s lounge, WiFi service and scanning, faxing and copy services, among other amenities.
