U.S. Xpress expands reefer service

Coast-to-coast, reefer service expanded recently, Chattanooga, Tenn.-based U.S. Xpress Enterprises said. The fleet now operates 100 reefer trucks and expects to have 250 by the end of 2012. Primary service lanes are from California to the Northeast, Mid-Atlantic and Southeast regions and back to California, the carrier says. Pilot Flying J iPhone app launched

One customer weekly will be given a $200 gas card for downloading the newly available iPhone app, My Pilot, Pilot Flying J said. An Android platform version of the app is expected to launch as early as January. Twenty dump trucks and 10 garbage trucks in several Missouri municipalities are among other heavy-duty vehicles that will be retrofitted to reduce diesel exhaust emissions, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency announced. Truckers will receive extra points on purchases with store cards through Nov. 27 at a newly opened stop in Ottawa, Kan., at Exit 183 off Interstate 35, Love’s Travel Stops said.
