The Volvo VN 780 donated in January will continue to be used for the American Trucking Associations’ America’s Road Team highway safety campaign, the truck maker announced. The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance will conduct roadside inspections Oct. 16-22 as part of its Operation Safe Driver campaign to increase traffic safety awareness, seat belt enforcement and driver regulatory compliance. England unveils LNG fleet

A new fleet of liquefied natural gas tractors will be used in Ontario, Canada, C. R. England announced of its dedicated division there. The tractors and trailers were present for inspection when the announcement and ribbon-cutting ceremony was held at the Ontario Convention Center Oct. 11. The fuel is touted as being nontoxic, abundant and having fewer greenhouse gases than gasoline or diesel fuels.

Kristen Belcher, a teacher at Kaufman Elementary School in Spring, Texas, is June’s Teacher of the Month for nonprofit outreach Trucker Buddy International. Belcher’s third-grade class is paired with Titan Express driver Russell James, who shares his trucking experiences with the students. James said he nominated Belcher because she is knowledgeable about trucking, explains the industry’s importance to her students and that she maintains classroom cooperation during James’s visits.
