Fleets with at least five Class 8 trucks, one of them a Volvo, are eligible to enter the Volvo Trucks Safety Award contest through July 31 for two grand prizes of $25,000 each, the truck maker said. A new travel stop has opened at Interstate 10, exit 604, in Seguin, Texas, Love's Travel Stops announced. Drivers who make purchases at the truck stop will receive double points on store cards through March 16. Hornady buys new ProStar+ tractors

Forty new International ProStar+ tractors equipped with MaxxForce engines will be in service in March, Monroeville, Ala.-based Hornady Transportation LLC announced. The tractors' engines get about 7 miles per gallon and the trucks have set-front back axles and automotive style controls. Cruise control, engine compression brakes, air horn and radio controls are located on the steering wheel itself, enabling easy adjustments. Deliveries of the tractors started in December.

Owner-operators who supply their own trucks, trailers and tags are eligible to earn 80 percent of gross revenue, Hope, Ark.-based Fikes Truck Lines and FTL Custom Commodities announced. Owner-operator team drivers of tractors and straight trucks can get sign-on bonuses of up to $15,000, Seville, Ohio-based Panther Expedited Services announced. Top bonus pay will go “to tractor teams and straight truck teams who have their hazmat endorsement, passports and a secret security clearance,” Panther Director of Recruiting Kyle Mitchin said.
