The number of payroll jobs at for-hire trucking companies rose in November, as did the number of trailer orders.
In a month in which the U.S. economy added 171,000 jobs, for-hire trucking companies added 3,600 payroll jobs in October, according to estimates by the Bureau of Labor Statistics on Nov. 2.
For-hire trucking companies added 700 payroll jobs in September on a seasonally adjusted basis as the overall U.S. economy added 114,000 nonfarm jobs.
After hiring about 20,000 new payroll employees in the past three months, trucking companies cut 1,900 jobs in March.
