‘Talented truckers’ TV show looking for … talented truckers
November 12, 2011
| by: Todd Dills
A television production company has a rather off-the-wall idea it’s helping one of the major cable channels develop — it wants to create a talent-competition-type series (a la American Idol, Dancing With the Stars, et al) that plays out on location at, well, a truck stop. And in the spirit of radio truck driver talent hours and other such showcases, they want the crooners, musicians, comedians, dancers, jugglers, you name it, among the nation’s long- and short-haul public to be the stars.
And: should you end up being a part of it all — you’ll get paid pretty well, producers say. And they’ve assured me, fyi, that the goal is performance authenticity, in the end, not ridicule.
They’re taking applications for drivers to be part of the competition as of now. Details follow and are in the flyer pictured here.
Here’s what they say:
SINGERS, RAPPERS, MUSICIANS, DANCERS, COMEDIANS, IMPERSONATORS, VENTRILOQUISTS,
MAGICIANS, ACROBATS, JUGGLERS…ANYTHING!… So long as you can perform your talent on a stage!

Hi, Sounds like an opportunity of a lifetime! I’m a Disabled Vet I have been driving since 2007 over the road. My music background includes some production work (Stage hand), I’m not much of a guitar player but I sing halfway decent for someone without any formal training. An audition with this project would be welcomed enthusiastically.
Hi folks, has anyone heard anything from these folks; follow up e-mail phone call? Thanks have a great day!
I sent a copy of ‘come home dad’ to them over a month ago and havent heard anything from them at all. our family would love to be apart of this!
I sing country music and I’m really good at it I drive tractor trailer for a living but I would love to be a country music star
THIS SEEMS LIKE A SUPER IDEA FOR DRIVERS. TO HAVE A CHANCE AT SHOWING THE WORLD THAT THERE IS ANOTHER SIDE TO DRIVERS THAT THE PUBLIC DOES’NT SEE. I WOULD ENJOY A CHANCE AT MAKING A CROWD LAUGH. MY ENGLISH LIT TEACHER TOLD ME THIS MANY YEARS AGO WHILE ATTENDING COLLEGE THAT I COULD BECOME A SUPER COMEDIAN IF GIVEN A CHANCE.
Truck Driver for 15 years plus. Been both O/O as well as a company driver. Comedian I believe am. I discovered this in 1968 when performed in our senior high school play. was offered an opportunity to become an understudy at Guild Hall, a well known performing arts theater. I never had the time to follow up on it. My phone 8433643871
Its a good Idea. To bad I cant play a guitar or sing but I sure can drive a big truck, train horses and a give those guys a good cb ass whooping in all good fun! I love my truckin buds! Go figure! Good luck to everyone.

Have no talent right now,but maybe by the time I’m selected I will have aquired some
have they picked there contestants yet?
My understanding is they’re getting it done right now, but relying on folks who’ve submitted to get to a show location on their own dime for first episode. They’ll then whittle from there, they say, a little different than what they told me originally.
on there own dime? hmmmm? ok!
