TCA holds Wellness Week

| September 13, 2012

During National Truck Driver Appreciation & Wellness Week, the Truckload Carriers Association and state trucking associations will host health fairs and “celebrity walks” designed to get drivers exercising, eating better and taking charge of their bodies.  These activities will take place at 12 TA/Petro locations across the United States from 3 to 8 p.m. local time on Tuesday, Sept. 18.

The activities will begin with health fairs conducted between 3 and 6 p.m. Various experts will be on hand to provide information on health-related issues, such as weight loss, nutrition, obesity, heart disease and sleep apnea. They will also provide basic health services such as glucose testing.

Drivers can also tour the StayFit gyms located on the properties and sample items from TA/Petro’s StayFit menus. They may also receive free, healthy snacks.

After the health fairs end, drivers, fleet office workers and trucking personalities (at some locations) will gather for 1-, 2- or 3-mile walks along the StayFit walking trail at each property. Some of the personalities will be Homer Hogg at the West Memphis, Ark., TA, John Ratzenberger at the Ontario East, Calif., TA, Tom O’Brien and Pete Thomas at the Lodi, Ohio, TA, Jay Blake at the Carlisle, Pa., Petro, Lindsay Lawler and Dave Nemo at the Antioch, Tenn., TA and Glenn Keller at the Rockwall, Texas, TA.
