579 Untitled 1Overdrive Executive Editor Jack Roberts was given the chance to take Peterbilt’s brand new 579 model for a spin bobtail in the Dallas-Ft. Worth area just before it was released at the Mid-American Trucking Show in March.

Peterbilt built the truck on an all-new chassis and designed it for aerodynamics and fuel efficiency.

The compact, round-nosed cab is being marketed as Peterbilt’s most aerodynamic build ever. The nose on the new truck is 2 inches lower than anything else the company offers. Every flat edge has been rounded to facilitate airflow.

Read Roberts full report here, in which he discusses the truck’s styling, talk’s to a Peterbilt designer and breaks down the 579’s all-new interior.

Also, don’t miss the video of Peterbilt’s smoky unveiling of the tractor, here.
