Million-Mile Drivers
Barr-Nunn Transportation recently honored three drivers who have reached 1 million safe driving miles with the company. The honored drivers were: Bob Smith, who has been with the company since 1987, Gary Hurley, who joined Barr-Nunn in 1987, and Jim Burns, who started in 1989.

Barr-Nunn also recognized Gary Coe, who retired from his irregular-route after more than 10 years with the company in which he logged more than 1 million miles of safe driving.

Melton Ambassadors
Melton Truck Lines recently inducted eight new drivers into its Melton Ambassadors of the Road: Richard Baringer, John Hall, Alton Jackson, Brian Parnell, Dave Schindler, DeeAnn Schindler, James Thornbrugh and Steve Weaver.

The Ambassadors of the Road are drivers who have driven 1 million miles for Melton and exhibit exemplary dedication and professionalism on the road. Newly inducted Ambassadors get to order a Kenworth W900 or T600 to their specifications with an additional $1500 for options. They also receive a personalized Ambassador jacket and special decal for their truck recognizing their achievement.

Paschall Truck Lines honored Linda Young with its Company Driver of the Month award for April 2003.

Young has been a driver at PTL for a year and a half. She also is a member of the Trucker Buddy program, where one of her students is her granddaughter Donna.

Arkansas Driving Champ
SRT driver Keith Leder won the Sleeper Division at the Arkansas Truck Driving Championships in June. The contest consisted of a written exam, an interview, and a driving course that tested drivers’ abilities, including judging distance, docking, scale placement and an obstacle course. An El Paso, Texas, native, Leder joined SRT just over two years ago.

Schneider Award
Schneider National Expedited, a division of Schneider National Inc., has been named Limited Brands, Logistics Services’ “Truckload Carrier of the Year.” This is the first time that Limited Brands, Logistics Services has given out this award. Limited Brands, Logistics Services officially presented this honor to Schneider National Expedited at its carrier conference in Columbus, Ohio.

CFI’s gave its Company Team Driver of the Month award for June 2003 to DeVerne Hunt and Carole Smith.

CFI Drivers of the Month
Contract Freighters Inc. has named its June 2003 drivers of the month.

Company Driver of the Month was Kenneth Bachman of St. Joe, Mo., who has been with CFI for two years. Company Team Driver of the Month was awarded to DeVerne Hunt and Carole Smith of Joplin, Mo., who both joined CFI in 1992.

Contractor of the Month was Kenny Petrey, who joined CFI in 1999.
Contractor Team of the Month went to John and Sherry Hufford of Bell, Fla., who joined the company four years ago.

Winners are automatically nominated for the 2003 year-end award in their respective categories.

May Driver of the Month
Melton Truck Lines in Tulsa, Okla., named Willie Lyons as May Driver of the Month. He joined Melton seven years ago and has been a professional driver since 1988.

Graebel All Star Fleet
Graebel Van Lines, a division of Graebel Companies Inc., recently announced its 2002 All Star Fleet.

The Graebel All Star Fleet recognizes drivers and contractors who in the last 12 months demonstrated outstanding performance in the areas of customer satisfaction, safety and low interstate cargo claims. This year, 255 drivers qualified for this award, compared to 133 in 2001.

Kelvin Tate and partner Lisa Mae Woollam were named Driver of the Year, having earned a near-perfect score in all categories.
