The largest city in the South, Atlanta is home to professional baseball, basketball and football teams. It was also home to Margarett Mictchell, author of Gone With The Wind. Atlanta was burned during the Civil War, but it recovered to become the center of trade and population in the Deep South.

Stone Mountain near Atlanta is one of the largest single masses of exposed granite in the world. Georgia is the nation’s number one producer of the three P’s — peanuts, pecans and peaches.
