Today’s Stop: Dublin, Va.

Nestled in the Appalachians, Dublin is one of Virginia’s key crossroads. Settled in 1776, Dublin was founded by Henry Jacob Trollinger. Their original house stood near U.S. 11 in the town. The town was site to Civil War battles and served as a main rail depot for the Confederate armies. The depot eventually drew the wrath of Union General Ulysses S. Grant whose forces eventually destroyed the depot in 1864. The town is home now to the main truck plant for Volvo Trucks of North America. The same plant built Overdrive‘s 40th Anniversary VN770.
