Love’s opens new Texas stop

Love’s Travel Stops recently opened a new location in Weimar, Texas, at Interstate 10, Exit 682. The location includes 88 truck parking spaces, a Wendy’s and Chester’s Chicken restaurants, Love’s Truck Tire Care center, five showers, CAT scales and bulk DEF available at all diesel lane pumps. The tire center will be open 24 hours a day, seven days a week. Drivers will receive double loyalty points at the new location through May 31.

IdleAir, TSE service provider, has opened a new location in Dallas, Texas. The facility is located at Flying J No. 726, Exit 472 off I-20. The company is offering free, limited service at this location through May 5 and discounted basic service at $1.49 per hour through May 12. IdleAir will continue its expansion with new sites opening in Texas, California and Ohio this year.

Shorepower adds CA locations

Shorepower Technologies' newest installation of power pedestals at the Pilot Flying J Travel Plaza in Lebec, Calif., completes the Interstate 5 corridor, the company has announced. The customers and employees of TravelCenters of America have donated $2,811.26 to the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF), a nonprofit organization that provides direct assistance to professional truck drivers whose medical problems have led to financial hardship. Professional drivers contributed nearly $2,375 at MATS, and employees of TravelCenters donated more than $435 to SCF during a corporate fundraising event.

Whiskey Pete’s Stateline Stop travel center recently opened at Primm Valley Casino Resorts in Primm, Nev. The 13,000-square-foot facility features several quick service restaurants, 40 slot machines, and free Wi-Fi inside the center. Love’s installs remote diesel payment system

Love’s Travel Stops is completing the addition of a radio frequency ID (RFID) payment system at its travel stop locations. The RFID system operates through a low-cost tag placed on a truck’s windshield that is detected by an antenna installed in diesel lanes at Love’s locations. The signal turns the fuel pump on and off and completes a payment transaction with little driver interaction. Love’s says it's the first to offer this technology.

Love’s purchases 50 new CNG trucks

Love’s Travel Stops has agreed to purchase 50 new Freightliner Cascadia trucks with Cummins-Westport 12-liter CNG engines for its fleet of fuel haulers, operating under the Gemini Transport brand. Gemini will purchase and take delivery of the 50 trucks in the fourth quarter of 2013 through ATC Freightliner in Oklahoma City. The trucks will be used to deliver fuel to the metro Texas Triangle and Oklahoma City.
