R+L relocates its Canadian Gateway Service Center

R+L Carriers of Wilmington, Ohio, relocated its Canadian Gateway Service Center from Elgin, Ill., to Janesville, Wis. The company said the move expands its Canada service capabilities with enhanced daily direct loading to and from nine Western Canada Service Centers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba. The new facility features a 100,000-square-foot service center and a newly renovated 4,940-square-foot shop, both with 24/7 guarded access.

Averitt employees donate $450,000 to St. Jude

Through weekly contributions, truck drivers and other employees of Cookeville, Tenn.-based Averitt Express raised a total of $450,000 in 2014 that was donated to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since 1986, Averitt Cares for Kids, the company’s charitable employee-giving program, has contributed nearly $7.5 million to children-related charities, including the Shriners Burn Institute and Ronald McDonald House.

Old Dominion opens, expands service centers

Old Dominion Freight Line Inc. has opened a new service center in Watertown, S.D., and an expanded service center in Oshkosh, Wis. The Thomasville, N.C.-based less-than-truckload carrier said it opened its third South Dakota facility because of increasing population and economic growth in the region. The one-acre 12-door service center employs five. Old Dominion said it expanded its Oshkosh facility because of the region’s resurging paper industry.
