Transport Corp. raises pay

Transport Corp. of America has raised owner-operator pay 2 cents per mile, bringing the pay to 93 cents per mile, the Eagan, Minn.-based carrier announced. Owner-operators with hazmat endorsement will receive an additional 2-cent increase, making the total 95 cents per mile. On July 31, company driver pay will increase 1 cent per mile, the carrier said.

Bridgestone Commercial Solutions announces price increases

The prices of Bridgestone and Firestone truck and bus tire products, Bandag brand retreads and related retreading materials have been increased starting immediately, Bridgestone Commercial Solutions announced. The prices of Bridgestone, Firestone and Continuum over-the-road tires will also be raised starting Aug. 1. The total average increase for all products will be 11 percent. Marten institutes detention pay

Drivers who arrive on time and are delayed by a shipper or receiver for more than two hours over the scheduled delivery time will be paid for the detention effective July 1, Marten Transport said. The rates are $12 per hour for company drivers and $20 per hour for owner-operators for every hour detained beyond the two-hour limit, up to 11 hours, the Mondovi, Wis.-based carrier said. Allied and Shell team to aid Joplin tornado relief

Shell Oil Co. and Allied Oil & Supply have teamed up to assist tornado relief efforts in Joplin, Mo. Shell donated 420 cases of Pennzoil Premium 2-Cycle Oil, which employees at Allied’s Joplin branch handed out at the Cummins Central Power lot to power small machinery.  About 100 cases remain of the donated oil. Navistar International has donated a step van valued at $20,000 to the Hale Empowerment and Revitalization Organizations, a catalyst for community development in areas of the Alabama Black Belt.
