Bridgestone Bandag announces price increase

Truck and bus radial tire prices have increased 12 percent, Bridgestone Bandag Tire Solutions announced recently regarding both the Bridgestone and Firestone brands. Kurt Danielson, the tire maker's president, says the cost of raw materials and rising energy costs “have made a price increase of this level unavoidable.”

O&S offers owner-operator pay raise

Owner-operators paid by the mile are eligible for a pay increase, Springfield, Mo.-based O&S announced recently. Independent contractors now receive $1 per mile on all miles with an opportunity to increase to $1.02 per mile within 90 days. Lease purchase operators receive 92 cents per mile on all miles and can increase that to 95 cents per mile within 90 days. Read more at O&S Trucking.

Illinois DOT suspends HOS rules for petroleum haulers

Petroleum haulers are exempt from Illinois' hours of service regulations until 11:59 p.m. Feb. 7, or until bad weather has subsided, the Illinois Department of Transportation said Monday. The lift was declared due to increased fuel demands as a result of severe weather in the Midwest. An extension is possible, if conditions exists, IDOT says.
