Crete opens Indianapolis terminal

National carrier Crete Carrier Corp. will open its new Indianapolis, Ind., terminal Jan. 28, the fleet announced. The terminal is built on six acres of fenced land, and the 30,000-square-ft. building has a shop with 10 bays, a tractor/trailer shop and an office. Lubricant may help fuel economy

Gordon Murray Design and Shell research teams have partnered to develop a lubricant to help increase fuel economy, potentially by more than 6 percent across multiple vehicle ranges, according to a report from Shell. The ultra low viscosity 0W-10 motor oil was used on a Gordon Murray city vehicle design, the T.25 city car, and increased 6.5 percent in fuel efficiency. U.S. Xpress orders 1,000 SmartWay certified trucks

U.S. Xpress, based in Chattanooga, Tenn., has ordered 1,000 new Peterbilt 587s, the truck maker announced. Peterbilt’s new Model 587s have been certified as fuel-efficient by the Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program. The 587 has an aerodynamic design made for long-haul operations, lowers greenhouse gas emissions and reduces NOx emissions, particulate matter and other air pollutants. The truck is available with two sleeper options or in a day cab configuration.
