Schneider increases tanker pay rate

The tanker division at Schneider National, Schneider National Bulk Carriers, is increasing owner-operator compensation by 5 cents a mile.  The new rate increases owner-operator compensation to $1.05 a mile, plus fuel surcharge, for loaded and unloaded miles. Schneider says its tanker owner-operators average 125,000 miles a year and, with the increase for this group taking effect on Dec. 5, could see an extra $6,250 a year in revenue with the new mileage rate. Landes driver wins customer award

Driver Bob Oitker is the first recipient of the Customer Appreciation Recognition for Employees award, said Landes Trucking Inc. CEO Jim House. The fleet, based in Jacksonville, Ill., started the award to honor employees who garner unsolicited praise from customers, House said. Boyd Bros. Transportation driver tops 2 million miles

Company driver Virgil Shell recently exceeded driving 2 million miles safely, Boyd Bros. Transportation announced. A 16-year veteran trucker and resident of Columbia, S.C, Shell was given a bonus check and trophy for his accomplishment. Shell said that he enjoys working for the Clayton, Ala.-based fleet. The carrier was recently selected as Best Fleet for Company Drivers by the Truckload Carriers Association (TCA) and CarriersEdge.

Sleep provider to partner with truckers clinic

Sleep HealthCenters is partnering with Roadside Medical Clinics to provide sleep medicine services as part of Roadside Medical’s driver wellness programs. The Brighton, Mass.-based sleep provider will educate truckers, diagnose and support treatment of sleep disorders in Roadside’s overall driver wellness program, said Sleep HealthCenters' Robin Gordon.
