Lowe’s honors Southeastern Freight Lines

Lowe’s recently named Southeastern Freight Lines its Platinum Carrier of the Year, the highest award designation possible for the home improvement retailer. Southeastern is the only less-than-truckload carrier to receive this award in consecutive years. This is the sixth year in a row the company has received it. Lowe’s names the award-winner based on meeting four primary objectives including on-time and claim-free deliveries.

Pilot opens new Texas stop

Pilot Flying J recently expanded to a location in Canton, Texas, off Interstate 20 at exit 553. The travel center offers five diesel lanes with DEF at the pump and eight gasoline lanes, Hot Skillet Country Restaurant, Long John Silver’s, A&W and a driver lounge currently undergoing a renovation. The new facility is the 42nd in Texas and 662nd Pilot Flying J in North America.

Iowa 80 is ‘8th Wonder’

The Iowa 80 Truckstop in Walcott, Iowa, has been nominated by the Quad Cities Convention and Visitor’s Bureau as the 8th Wonder of the World in Virtual Tourist’s current online contest. Voting is open until September 30. Entries have been received from all over the world, the truck stop reports, and anyone is eligible to vote once a day between June 3 and Sept. 30.

Lindsay Lawler to play at Walcott

Iowa 80 Truckstop has announced Lindsay Lawler will perform at the 34th annual Walcott Truckers Jamboree on July 11 at 7 p.m. The concert is sponsored by CAT Scale. Love’s to donate $3 million to Oklahoma relief

Love’s Travel Stops recently announced it will donate $3 million to support the immediate and long-term efforts in Oklahoma following the devastating tornados that impacted Moore, Shawnee and surrounding areas. The first $1 million will be designated to the OK Strong Relief Fund established this week by Gov. Mary Fallin. Another donation of $500,000 will be given to Catholic charities. Kenworth offering rental natural gas trucks

Fleets operating along the I-84 and I-15 corridors from Las Vegas, Nev., to Utah, Idaho and Oregon can now rent Kenworth trucks fueled by LNG through a new rental program available from PacLease, Kenworth Sales Company and Blu LNG. The rental program will offer trucks in local-delivery, regional-haul, long-haul and heavy-haul configurations to meet the needs of most fleets while matching the LNG fueling infrastructure that Blu is currently installing.
