Snap Fitness opens in St Louis

Snap Fitness, in partnership with Rolling Strong, recently opened their fourth express fitness center inside of a Pilot Travel Center in East St. Louis. The opening follows the original launch in Dallas, Texas, Lebanon, Tenn., and Rising Fawn, Ga. The club, which opened April 20, is located at 699 State Route 203. Treadmills, ellipticals, leg machines, chest machines, dumbbells and a bench press, among other equipment, are all available for use.

TA donates to the St. Christopher

The customers and employees of TravelCenters of America have donated $2,811.26 to the St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF), a nonprofit organization that provides direct assistance to professional truck drivers whose medical problems have led to financial hardship. Professional drivers contributed nearly $2,375 at MATS, and employees of TravelCenters donated more than $435 to SCF during a corporate fundraising event.

Epes Transport ups pay

Epes Transport System recently announced an increase in pay for many of its company drivers. Effective March 1, 2013, the Northeast premium pay for Epes company drivers increased 10 cents per mile. The premium pay will apply to every load delivering to Connecticut, Delaware, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington D.C., and Canada.

Whiskey Pete’s travel center opens

Whiskey Pete’s Stateline Stop travel center recently opened at Primm Valley Casino Resorts in Primm, Nev. The 13,000-square-foot facility features several quick service restaurants, 40 slot machines, and free Wi-Fi inside the center. Located on the west side of I-15, 24 Chevron fueling stations are available as well as an electric car charging station. Prime drivers recognized

Three drivers from Prime Inc. were honored at the 2013 Missouri Trucking Association (MoTA) Annual Safety Conference. Ronald Hoover, Glen Horack and Thomas Miller were awarded based on their excellent driving records, contributions to highway safety, and courtesy and participation in community affairs. Love’s installs remote diesel payment system

Love’s Travel Stops is completing the addition of a radio frequency ID (RFID) payment system at its travel stop locations. The RFID system operates through a low-cost tag placed on a truck’s windshield that is detected by an antenna installed in diesel lanes at Love’s locations. The signal turns the fuel pump on and off and completes a payment transaction with little driver interaction. Love’s says it's the first to offer this technology.

Driver responds to fatal crash, named Highway Angel

The Truckload Carriers Association recently named John Lilley, of Kelowna, B.C., a Highway Angel. Lilley drives for Bison Transport out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, and he tried to help save an injured man in a fatal car crash, leaning upon his medical expertise at the scene.
