Old Dominion expands

Old Dominion Freight Line, Inc. has moved its Toledo, Ohio, service center to a larger, more modern location located along Interstate 75 at 5950 Stickney Avenue. The 48-door service center features additional yard space and a larger dock. The center is equipped with motion-sensor energy-efficient lighting, and solar-powered security fencing. St. Christopher year recap

The St. Christopher Fund announced that in 2012 the organization was able to assist 214 drivers and their families with over $158,000. These numbers bring the fund’s total to 711 beneficiaries from $348,000. The majority of recipients suffered from cancer, diabetes and heart disease. Trucker Buddy recognized

Bruce Wehner, a driver for Cliff Viessman, Inc., of S.D., has been named the December 2012 Trucker Buddy of the Month. Wehner was nominated by Rose Wenzel and her Assumption BVM Catholic School’s first and second-grade classes in Pulaski, Wis. St. Christopher scholarship deadline extended

The St. Christopher Truckers Development and Relief Fund (SCF), with financial support from TBS Factoring Service of Oklahoma City, have created the TBS Factoring Service Trade School Scholarship of $10,000 dollars for truckers no longer able to drive for health reasons. The scholarship is for a driver who cannot drive professionally because of health, but is willing to go to school to train for another profession. Epes ups independent pay

Epes Transport System, of North Carolina, announced an increase in pay for many of its independent contractors. Effective February 3, 2013, pay for independent contractors will increase 2 cents per mile to $0.92 per mile. The company’s northeast premium pay will increase an additional 10 cents per mile beginning March 3, 2013. Northeast independent contractors will have the opportunity to make $1.02 per mile plus fuel surcharge.

Daimler Trucks of North America recently recognized Truck Centers, Inc., a Freightliner and Western Star dealer serving Illinois and Missouri, for 35 years of "service and commitment" to Freightliner. The family owned dealer network was one of the inaugural dealers awarded a Freightliner franchise after eight years representing White Motors.
