SafeConnect to power reefer units at new GSF center

Golden State Foods opened last month a distribution center that will serve about 450 McDonald’s in the Chicago area. In an initiative to make the facility more energy efficient, the facility equipped the center with SafeConnect electric standby connection systems to power the fleet’s refrigeration units. SafeConnect is a plug-in docking stations that is compatible with straight trucks and trailers. It also has a failsafe self-disconnect system that prevents drive-offs from causing contact with high-voltage electricity.

The revamped mobile-friendly SFITrucks.com website is designed for easy use and to offer a streamlined user experience, showcasing an easy-to-complete credit application for drivers looking to lease new or used trucks from SFI, a division of Green Bay, Wis.-based Schneider.

Southeastern relocates Arkansas service center

Southeastern Freight Lines, a Lexington, S.C.-based less-than-truckload company, relocated its service center in Van Buren, Ark., near Fort Smith, in response to growing business in the region. The new facility employs more than 35 people and features 39 dock doors. “By increasing capacity and improving delivery efficiency, the new Van Buren facility will help to increase Southeastern’s quality of service throughout the Sun Belt,” says Scott Lackie, service center manager.

Ryder introduces loyalty program for truck renters

Ryder System recently announced it is instituting a new customer loyalty program for its rental customers, who will now earn points for renting trucks from the company. To participate, customers need to sign up at RyderRedZone.com. Participants can redeem points on things like hotel stays, consumer electronics and home and garden supplies.
