Tour gets rolling

It’s finally here!
Overdrive‘s 40th Anniversary Voice of the American Trucker Tour starts Sunday, Aug. 5, at the TA in Cottondale, Ala., at Exit 76 of I-20/59. We’re celebrating the first tour stop in conjunction with Trucker Appreciation Day. If you’re in the area, stop by for free drinks, food and prizes. The first visitors will receive gifts such as T-shirts and a CD compilation of trucking hits from the past four decades.

The tour will travel around the country and conclude at the Great American Trucking Show in Dallas, Sept. 7-9.

Former Overdrive Trucker of the Year Harvey Zander will drive a Volvo VN770 that is fully equipped with the latest technology. Inside the trailer will be a historical exhibit of Overdrive and the trucking industry.

One highlight of the tour will be an appearance at the Pacific Northwest Truck Museum’s Truck Show 2001 in Brooks, Ore., near Salem, Aug. 25.
