Minnesota State Fair 2012
Billed as 'The Great Minnesota Get Together' the Minnesota State Fair is the Largest State Fair in the United States. In the last three years the attendance averaged over 1,700,000 for the 12 days of the fair, with single day attendance records of about 230,000 visitors. For these 12 days the Minnesota State Fairgrounds becomes the Third Largest City in Minnesota. The images in the 'MINNESOTA' represent various parts of Minnesota history and folklore. M - The Showy Lady Slipper (Minnesota's State Flower) I - Not sure what the Black Banner along the top is. Paul Bunyan (whose footprints made many of the lakes in Minnesota) N - Babe the Blue Ox and a Norway Pine (Minnesota's State Tree) N - The State Capital and a great grey wolf E - Split Rock Lighthouse and a Common Loon (Minnesota's State Bird) S - Ruby Red Slippers (Judy Garland -Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz) and Guitar & Harmonica (Bob Dylan). Both were born in Minnesota O - Not sure what the building on the top is, maybe the Old Guthrie. Bottom is the Spoon & Cherry in the Minneapolis Sculpture Garden. T - The Lift Bridge in Duluth. Grain for all the farmland in Minnesota. A - Paddle Wheel Riverboat on the Mississippi. Stone Arch Bridge over the Mississippi.
