National Truck Driver Appreciation Week — a week of celebration of U.S. truck operators spearheaded by the the American Trucking Associations — started Sept. 13 and runs through Sept. 19.
The event, says ATA, is coordinated each year to show the country’s 3.4 million truck drivers that carriers, shippers and the rest of the industry appreciate the job they do.
Here’s a look at some of the videos, promotions and other efforts taking place this week, starting with ATA President/CEO Bill Graves’ video message kick off:
Trucking Moves America Forward, the industry image and education campaign, is encouraging the trucking industry and the general public to get involved by using the hashtag #ThankADriver on social media this week.
Overdrive sister site Truckers News is celebrating the week by recognizing drivers through its iLuvMyTrucker program, highlighting stories of seven truckers submitted by their family or friends. Truckers News will showcase professional truck drivers who have been nominated throughout the week, and judges will choose one extra-special driver to be recognized. Stay tuned for more from the third annual iLuvMyTrucker program.
The California Trucking Association, in partnership with AccuSure, released this video thanking drivers:
Pilot Flying J will honor drivers throughout the month of September by offering “special experiences” and prizes, the company says, as well as free daily deals. During the week of Sept. 14-20, PFJ will offer free PhilMor coffee refills between 2-6 p.m., and from Sept. 21-30, they will offer free daily deals on items such as energy drinks, sodas, snacks and more.
Love’s Travel Stops will give away 1 million My Love Rewards points to one driver during the week of Sept. 13-19, which has a retail value of $10,000 at Love’s. Drivers can enter to win the 1 million points by swiping the My Love Rewards card on fuel, merchandise or tire care purchases in store during the event. Up to 10,000 My Love Rewards card members can win 10,000 points instantly, a $100 retail value at Love’s, during the week as well.

Bendix offered its thanks and recognition via a statement.

Rand-McNally is thanking drivers with e-cards, which can be found on its Facebook page. Here’s an example of one of the cards:
TNT Truck Wash will give away prizes each day and have a grand prize basket filled with goods worth over $150 as the grand prize. They will also have burgers and hotdogs Sept. 18 from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. They have locations in Columbus and Cincinnati, Ohio; and Indianapolis, Ind.
Truckload Carriers Association is hosting free driver health fair events at select TravelCenters of America and Petro locations across the nation. The program, called On-Ramp to Better Health, will bring medical professionals and truck drivers together for blood pressure screenings and glucose tests, as well as flu shots. Any truck driver holding a valid CDL may stop by one of the following locations between 3-6 p.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 15:
