Trucker Buddy of the Month

TMI MultiMedia, a sponsor of Trucker Buddy, named Michael DeCorsey, a driver for Sonny Peterson Trucking of Swanville, Minn., Trucker Buddy of the Month for April. DeCorsey works with a second-grade class at Holly Glen School in Williamstown N.J.

TMI MultiMedia presented DeCorsey with a jacket embroidered with his name and a $500 check to be spent on his adopted class.

Trucker Buddy is a pen pal program that matches drivers with children in grades two through eight.


Super Van Operator Awards
The American Moving and Storage Association recently presented its 2002 Super Van Operator of the Year and Fleet Safety awards. The drivers received custom leather jackets sponsored by Trans Advantage, specially designed rings sponsored by Movers Specialty Service and other gifts. They also received plaques from AMSA.

The winner of the Super Van Operator Lifetime Achievement award was Delbert E. Cedars, of Crawfordsville, Ind., a driver for Superior Moving and Storage, an agent of American Red Ball Transit Company, Indianapolis. Winner of the Super Van Operator-Special Commodities award was Charles Cutsinger of Shepherdsville, Ky., a driver for North American Van Lines of Fort Wayne, Ind.

Other Super Van Operator Award winners selected for 2002 were: Robert C. Anderson of Winner, S.D., a driver for AAction Movers of Bismarck, N.D., a United Van Lines agent; Jack N. Austin of Phenix City, Ala., a driver for Eckert Van and Storage of San Marcos, Calif., a North American Van Lines agent; Melvin E. Homuth of MacHenry Park, Ill., a driver for National Van Lines, Inc., of Broadview, Ill.; Fredrick L. Lowe of Freedom, Pa., a driver for George Transportation Group of Zelienople, Pa., a North American Van Lines agent; and Frank Russell of Morton Grove, Ill., driving for Jackson Moving Services of Naperville, Ill., an Allied Van Lines agent.

PTL Drivers
Paschall Truck Lines recently named Paul Franklin of Thompsonville, Ill., as the company’s 2001 Driver of the Year. Franklin has driven for the company for 14 years, and in 1995 he was awarded the Kentucky State Championship for Truck Driving. He also earned the 1.6 million Safe Mile Award.

PTL also announced contractor Mike Taylor of Benton, Ky., as the company’s Owner-Operator of the Month for January. Taylor, who has been with PTL 23 years, was named Driver of the Year in 1998 and he has also received the 700,000 Safe Mile Award for excellence in safety. n

CFI Drivers of The Month
Contract Freighters Inc. recently named its February 2002 drivers of the month.

Company Driver of the Month was Butch Untiedt of Trenton, Mo., who has driven for CFI for 16 years. Company Team Driver of the Month was awarded to Jim and Shirley Edge of McAlester, Okla. Jim joined CFI in 1997 and Shirley in 2001.

Contractor of the Month was John Pope of Mountain Grove, Mo., who has been with CFI for three years. Contractor Team of the Month was Bobby and Bo Blair of May, Texas. Bobby joined three years ago and Bo more than two years ago.

Winners are automatically nominated for the 2002 year-end award in their respective category.
