Mark McConachie, a driver for Maverick Transportation, has been named a Highway Angel by the Truckload Carriers Association for administering CPR to another truck driver who was suffering a heart attack.

On March 3, 2016, McConachie, of Sparta, Ill., witnessed another driver waiting for a load at Atlas Tube in Chicago lean against a steel beam before falling backwards. He had an Atlas Tube employee call 911 and rushed to the other driver to begin CPR, which he continued to do until an ambulance arrived.

When the driver was taken away in the ambulance, he was still breathing, but McConachie later found out the driver had passed away at the hospital.

For his assistance, TCA gave McConachie a certificate, patch, lapel pin and truck decals. Maverick also received a certificate acknowledging McConachie as a Highway Angel.
