Truckers asked to name top concerns in trucking industry

ATRI has launched its annual Top Industry Issues Survey, which asks respondents to list their top concerns related to the trucking industry.

The American Transportation Research Institute is looking to hear from trucking industry stakeholders about their top concerns as part of its annual Top Industry Issues Survey, commissioned by the American Trucking Associations.

The survey asks industry stakeholders to rank their top trucking industry concerns, along with strategies for addressing each issue. ATRI gives survey respondents a list of 28 issues identified by the industry and asks for the respondent’s top three issues from the list. Some issues the group identified include: autonomous vehicles, CSA, driver distraction, the economy, the ELD mandate, hours-of-service, independent contractor status, redundant background checks, truck parking and more.

The survey also gives respondents the opportunity to include issues that are not on the list.

“ATRI’s annual survey provides a chance for thousands of trucking industry professionals, from drivers to executives, to weigh in on the most important topics that affect trucking and collectively decide on the roadmap for addressing each,” said ATA Chairman Kevin Burch, president of Jet Express Inc. “With your participation, we can speak with a collective industry voice on what is most important to us.”

The results of the survey will be released at the annual ATA Management Conference and Exhibition, set for Oct. 21-24 in Orlando, Fla. Last year, the electronic logging device mandate topped the list, with hours-of-service ranking second.

The survey can be completed online, or printed and faxed or emailed.

Responses are due by Friday, Sept. 29.
