For two decades, up to 100 trucks have assembled in Eureka, Calif. for the annual Christmas Truckers Parade, Multiple generators have been used to light trucks, festooned with additional decorations ranging from bandstand platforms to flying fish. In Oregon, the 19th annual Timber Trucker’s Light Parade will make its 5-mile trip from Riddle to downtown Myrtle Creek Dec. 14. Entry fees are not required for participants, who throw candy and trinkets to spectators along the bonfire-lined route. Free refreshments will be available at the event that begins at dusk and ends about 10 p.m.

Some trucks have boasted up to 50,000 lights to compete for prizes and cash awards in the celebration began to honor the timber industry. As many as 70 trucks have participated, although any street-legal vehicle can enter the event. Click here for more information on the Myrtle Creek parade.
The Island Equipment Owners Association’s 15th annual Lighted Truck Convoy and Food Drive will be Dec.7 on Vancouver Island. The nearly 50-year-old association sponsors the Victoria, B.C., parade to benefit area food banks.
The city is located on the island’s southern tip, a 25-mile ferry trip from Port Angeles, Wash. Trucks will begin leaving at 5:45 p.m. at the city’s Ogden Point and are expected at Yates and Douglas streets at about 6:30 p.m. Click here for more information on the Port Angeles parade.
The 15th annual Parade of Lights will begin 7 p.m. Dec. 7 in Thunder Bay, located on Lake Superior in Ontario. More than 60 trucks participated in last year’s event, garnering $19,308 for charity. This year’s proceeds will benefit local organizations for children with disabilities.

Across from the Blaine, Wash. border crossing, Surrey, B.C. will offer the fourth annual Big Rigs for Kids Dec. 8. Starting at 5 p.m., more than 40 trucks will travel west on Cloverdale on Highway 10, described as city’s “town center,” before arriving at Surrey’s Holland Park.
Spectators may vote for their favorite by putting money into containers placed by each truck. Proceeds will benefit the Surrey Food Bank and the Surrey Christmas Bureau. Click here for more information on the Surrey parade.
