The Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance has recommended 2013 roadside enforcement of the Unified Carrier Registration to begin Feb. 1.
The UCR program requires carriers, brokers, freight forwarders and leasing companies operating commercial vehicles in interstate or international commerce register their business and pay an annual fee. Those subject to URC residing in a state not participating in the program must register by declaring one of the 41 participating states as their base state.
