After we wrote about small fleet owner-operator Eldon Jaeger’s Long Haul Survivor project truck and benefit for cancer research, Jaeger wasn’t sure whether or not he’d be driving the rig down to the Great American Trucking Show from his home base in Iowa. But along the way, the Walcott Truckers Jamboree happened and, there, he was talking with an old friend and associate at the American Truck Historical Society who later asked him to bring the truck down for display in the ATHS booth at GATS, where $10 raffle tickets are available.

(Incidentally — speaking of truck history — Eldon’s home base is something of an antique-trucks museum itself, he says. His business card shows Long Haul Survivor on one side and his pristine 1948 Peterbilt cabover on the other. When anybody asks him how many trucks he’s collected over the years, he typically tells them “I have room for 21 inside and we have some outside.”)

He gave us a video walk around the truck, pointing out some of its unique features and emphasizing the huge help he’s gotten from all manner of members of the trucking and supplier communities out there. The video, as well as a photo gallery, is below.
