Volvo takes on emissions

Volvo has announced a plan to meet a target of reducing vehicle greenhouse gas emissions by 23 percent by 2017. The company wants to achieve this goal with Bin 4 aerodynamics, low-rolling resistance tires, a reduction in vehicle weight, five-minute idle shutdown and a speed limiter, which requires vehicle speed to be limited to a maximum of 65 mph. These areas will reduce operator flexibility but may increase operating costs and impact resale value, the company says.
