W. Va. group gets new name

The West Virginia Motor Truck Association has changed its name to the West Virginia Trucking Association. The name change, effective Jan. 1, comes as a result of a vote by membership at its annual convention, which was held in August.

“The term ‘motor truck’ conjures up a nostalgic yet somewhat antiquated image of our industry,” says Jan Vineyard, president of the trade group. “While we are proud of our association’s history and heritage, the time has come to align our name with the times in which we live and the technologies that allow us to efficiently and safely bring West Virginians the goods they use every day.”

The association — which represents trucking companies, private fleet operators, suppliers and other firms and individuals — also has updated its logo and website address, which is now www.wvtrucking.com.
