The new restart provision has already cost me 1/3rd of my normal hauling. I truck from Utah to Alaska which uses about 60 hours of my week, than sit for 36 hours for my reset to head back to the lower 48. My previous schedule allowed for me to do 1 1/2 turns per month. The new restart forces me to only run 1 turn per month which hits my monthly gross very hard (about $7,000). Not worth it now as our operating costs are the highest in North America. What were they (FMCSA) thinking? Trucking is a service industry and unless all shippers and receivers were onboard with the changes everyone loses.
