Beginning Tuesday night, May 30, truckers with loads wider than 10 feet will be required to find an alternate route around Interstate 10 eastbound in Arizona near the California state line because of a lane restriction.

The Arizona Department of Transportation says vehicles wider than 10 feet can take I-8 to the south or I-40 to the north to get around the construction project, which is approximately 3 miles east of the Colorado River.

ADOT adds the lane restriction to trucks with wide load permits is expected to remain in place through the end of September.

ADOT is reconstructing the Ehrenberg Port of Entry on the eastbound side of the interstate. The interstate has been reduced to one 10-foot lane. The site, which conducts commercial vehicle inspections, will remain open throughout the project.
