CHROME AND CARS

Bob Long, of Colon, Mich., has been hauling new and used cars for 20 years. His 2000 Peterbilt 379 has a 475-hp Caterpillar and an 18-speed transmission. The truck is fully chromed, inside and out, and the cab has a wooden floor. In between hauling cars for Auction Transport, Long has won awards at 17 truck shows.

HARD WORK PAYS OFF

Ron Duncan and his wife Carolyn, of Calumet, Okla., bought this 1968 Kenworth a year ago. The truck had been working in the Oklahoma oil fields for 30 years before the couple decided to buy it, stretch the frame 4 feet and put a 36-inch sleeper on it. Although they left in the original 335-hp Cummins and 15-speed transmission, the Duncans did repaint the body.
