The Drivewyze company’s PreClear weigh-station bypass service has opened a new office in Dallas and has hired Ken McCann as vice president of sales to lead an expanding sales team there. McCann, formerly in a senior position with Telogis, will lead the company’s efforts to serve what it calls a growing demand from fleets seeking improving operations in a variety of ways with Drivewyze.

That growth in demand comes in tandem with expansion in the service offering to more 600 locations in 36 states since launch in 2012. Two hundred of those locations, many in states that had previously adopted the service, have come in just the last 18 months.

“These additional locations demonstrate to carriers the greater value Drivewyze can offer over transponder-based services,” says Brian Heath. “More locations mean that bypass services are becoming relevant to a growing portion of the trucking industry.”

Heath says bypass market penetration prior to Drivewyze was less than 12 percent. “Drivewyze now provides services to many previously underserved locations,” he adds, “including low-volume, local, regional and even mobile inspection sites. This changes the economics of bypass from catering to a small percentage of the industry to serving the needs of the larger population.”
