Averitt Express (No. 21 on the CCJ Top 250) was recently recognized for its efforts to hire military veterans.

The Missouri Division of Workforce Development awarded the fleet with a Flag of Freedom as part of the agency’s Show-Me Heroes program, which works with Missouri businesses to hire more military veterans. Companies that have hired at least one military veteran are eligible to receive a Flag of Freedom award.

Averitt says more than 20 percent of its current employees have served in the military, and the company has also pledged to hire 1,200 more veterans by 2020.
