All four drivers featured on the History Channel’s Ice Road Truckers had to deal with more than just road conditions during the series’ second episode of the 11th season last week, writes Overdrive sister site Truckers News Editor David Hollis.

During the episode, Todd Dewey damaged his tire chains while trying to pull a stranded driver back onto the road with more than 400 miles left on his trip. He later has to face a steep hill covered in ice with the broken chains.

Lisa Kelly jackknifed her truck for the first time in her career and could not open her driver’s-side door or get to her toolbox. After bunking down for the night, several hunters happened upon her, one of whom was a mechanic, who was able to diagnose a clutch problem, make a quick fix and get Kelly back on her way.

Alex Debogorski tested the ice over a creek before attempting to cross with his truck, and ended up waist-deep in freezing water. Later, he crossed a frozen lake with warning flags to get to his destination.

Finally, Steph Custance, still trying to prove herself to her boss Mark Kohaykewych, ran into some trouble attempting to get over a frozen hill. With several trucks behind her waiting for their chance to traverse the hill, she has to chain up and try again.
