Now this sounds like a union meant to keep rolling together for quite some time. Kenworth Truck Co. customers now can spec Yokohama’s all-position 101ZL, 703ZL, 709ZL, MY507, RY023, RY617, and TY517 tires when ordering their new heavy- and medium-duty conventional trucks.

The tires are available in a variety of common sizes for truck use in on-highway and off-highway applications. All Yokohama over-the-road tires are verified as low-rolling-resistance tires by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program.

Kenworth isn’t the only Paccar company making headlines. Peterbilt Motors Co. has teamed with the American Loggers Council to create a rebate program for ALC members purchasing select new Peterbilt trucks through an authorized Peterbilt dealership. The cash rebates are up to $1,000 depending on the model of truck purchased.

ALC members may purchase up to three Peterbilt vehicles through this program and must take retail delivery of the trucks by Dec. 31, 2015. ALC members may receive a $1,000 rebate on Class 8 Models 567, 367 and 365 in day cab configurations; a $500 rebate on the Class 7 or 8 Model 348; and a $250 rebate on the Class 7 Model 337.

Peterbilt also announced that its new 58-inch sleeper – suited for weight conscious short- and regional-haul applications such as tanker and flatbed operations – is now available for order through the company’s dealer network. The new sleeper, available for the on-highway Model 579 and vocational Model 567, is suited for shorter wheelbases and reduces weight as much as 100 pounds versus an 80-inch sleeper.

The new sleeper, which goes into production during the fourth quarter and is available in both low- and mid-roof configurations, includes a full-length door to help facilitate loading personal gear and belongings from outside the truck. Additionally, full-length integrated extenders help minimize trailer gap and improve aerodynamic efficiency. Other features include a television mount, refrigerator, microwave shelf and full-length mattress.

Finally, here’s a warranty that proves no shortage of confidence in its product. SmartTruck Systems announced that all of its precision aerodynamic system components for long-haul trucking now are covered by a limited lifetime warranty. The extended coverage now provides for replacement or price-paid refund or any defective aerodynamic component as long as the original purchaser owns the SmartTruck system.

The previous warranty period for SmartTruck’s aerodynamic undertray components was 15 years and seven years for its TopKit. Now, all new components are covered by the limited lifetime warranty.
