Having to drive amid reckless four-wheelers is a year-round occupational hazard, but it peaks out on and around July 4.

That’s according to federal data from 2000-2009, analyzed by the AAA Foundation for Traffic Safety.

You might think that New Year’s Day is the year’s deadliest for traffic fatalities, but it’s not. July 4 takes that honor. And when it comes to drunk driving deaths, July 4 is second only to New Year’s.

So be careful out there! And if you care to indulge a little light-hearted fantasy regarding that four-wheeler whose driving almost ruined your July 4th holiday weekend, check out this video.
