Diesel prices fall for 5th week

While the national average retail price of a gallon of diesel dipped for the fifth straight week last week, some of the regions tracked by the Department of Energy recorded modest price increases.

The national average declined 0.3 cent to $2.772. The East Coast overall was unchanged and New England, Lower Atlantic and Gulf Coast recorded small gains. All of the other regions fell, including 1.1 cents in the Rocky Mountain area.

The cheapest diesel is in the Gulf Coast, while California remained the most expensive area to buy diesel at $2.942.
