The Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration is scheduled to hold a public meeting next month in Washington, D.C., to help electronic logging device manufacturers understand and produce ELDs that are compliant with the agency’s mandate.

The meeting will be held May 9 at 9:30 a.m. EDT at the U.S. DOT’s Media Center, 1200 New Jersey Ave. SE. Parties interested in attending the meeting can register at this link, which also includes a map and directions to the meeting’s location.

The agency said an agenda will be posted at that link too, though it was not available as of the publication of this article.

“This meeting is intended to address questions received from ELD manufacturers and to review the required standardized output and standardized data sets” defined in the ELD rule’s technical specifications, FMCSA said in its announcement. The ELD rule “included detailed performance and design requirements for ELDs to ensure the devices produce accurate, tamper-resistant records with a uniform file format and consistent displays,” the agency adds.
