UPDATE: U.S. 95 reopens in Nevada northwest of Las Vegas after flood, fire

After flooding closed both north- and southbound lanes of U.S. Highway 95 Sunday morning near Beatty, Nev., northwest of Las Vegas, crews were able to reopen one lane of traffic with a pilot car operation on the road by around 6:30 p.m. local time, reports the Nevada Department of Transportation. By 7 p.m., however, the road was shut down due to a fire at U.S. Ecology in Beatty. As of late Monday night, however, the road was reported reopened after the fire, at a hazardous waste facility, was put under control, NvDOT reported.

The state had established an Emergency Operations Center for the event, and the state was hard at work returning traffic to normal patterns after the flood and fire. U.S. 93, which splits from I-15 slightly northeast of Las Vegas, had also closed during the flooding event, though it was the primary alternate for NB 95 traffic on Monday.
