Fleetmaster adding tractors, trailers

Fleetmaster Express added 60 new 2014 Freightliner Cascadia tractors to its 300-truck fleet. The Roanoke, Va.-based company said it also recently added 40 other new Cascadias and that its latest order represents a 10 percent increase in growth and will allow it to hire more drivers and haul more weight up to 50,000 pounds with its 1,400 trailers.

Fleetmaster also announced the purchase of 100 new Wabash DuraPlate trailers, with plans to add 100 more by yearend.

After the truck was retired about three years ago, owner Joel Anker had it rebuilt into a show truck. The hard work paid off, with a fifth-place finish in the Limited Mileage -- Bobtail with Miles class at MATS in March.
