Tire artThis week we’re resuming our series that takes a look back at some recent product introductions for specific categories and specs. After all, since most of you are busy enough trying to manage your own business and make as much money as possible, it’s likely you occasionally might have missed a few gear rollouts over the past few months. So that’s why we’re hitting rewind on some new tires to help you keep on rollin’.

New MICHELIN X One Multi Energy T tire and retread deliver breakthrough reduction in irregular wear for regional operations (PRNewsFoto/Michelin)New MICHELIN X One Multi Energy T tire and retread deliver breakthrough reduction in irregular wear for regional operations (PRNewsFoto/Michelin)Michelin’s 455/55R22.5 X One MultiEnergy T wide-base single trailer tire is designed for regional operations and is verified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency. The tire complements the company’s 445/50R22.5 and is engineered for reduced irregular wear and added fuel economy while allowing fleets to carry additional freight when compared to dual applications. The X One MultiEnergy T Pre-Mold trailer retread, available in sizes 375/425 and 385/435, is SmartWay-verified and features the company’s proprietary Advanced Technology Compounds for reduced rolling resistance. The retread’s microsipes and solid shoulder is designed to fight irregular wear, and its 15/32nd-inch tread depth helps facilitate removal mileage.

GitiGiti’s GAM835 mixed-service tire is designed for on-/off-road heavy-haul applications such as logging, mining, oilfield, refuse, mixer and dump trucks. The tire’s casing construction with an optimized tread profile helps provide an optimal footprint for improved wear and vehicle handling, including added traction and braking properties. An advanced anti-cut and anti-chip compound helps improve casing protection and increase stability and driver comfort. A combined rib and lug pattern design provides higher resistance against tread tearing on aggressive road surfaces. The GAM835 is available in sizes 11R22.5 16 ply, 11R24.5 16 ply and 315/80R22.5 20 ply.

BridgestoneBridgestone Commercial’s Bandag B760 FuelTech drive retread is designed for tandem axle tractors in truckload and less-than-truckload applications. The retread, verified by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s SmartWay program and compliant with the California Air Resources Board, features an optimized groove width designed to combat stone retention and resist drilling for increased casing life; a highly-siped tread design for added traction on wet and dry surfaces; tie bars engineered to control tread block movement for long even wear; and multiple gripping edges that promote traction. The retread is available in four sizes, 210 mm through 240 mm.

GoodyearGoodyear’s Endurance WHA waste-haul tire features a scrub-resistant compound and a deep 24/32-inch tread depth and is available with the company’s DuraSeal Technology, which is built into the tire during the manufacturing process and is designed to seal nail-hole punctures of up to 1/4-inch in diameter in the tread’s repairable area. Endurance WHA, available in size 315/80R22.5, Load Range L, also features sidewall protector shingles to help resist scuffing in high-scrub applications and enhance casing life; a steel belt and casing package for enhanced toughness, endurance and retreadability; an optimized shoulder design to help direct pressure away from the outer tread, which promotes uniform tread wear; four wide circumferential grooves for all-season traction on wet, snow-covered and dry roads in stop/start applications; and a wide footprint to enhance cornering and handling when used on local streets.

CooperCooper’s Roadmaster RM230 HH tire now is available in size 275/70R22.5 for severe-duty applications such as logging and mining. The tire is designed to withstand stone penetration with an 18-ply rating (load range J) construction, a 22/32-inch tread depth, cut- and chip-resistant compounding and an offroad design with lugs and a stone protector ledge. A high-tensile strength four-belt package helps promote multiple retreads.

ToyoToyo Tire’s M153 regional and urban heavy-duty steer tire, suited for refuse operations, has an extra-deep regroovable 26/32-inch tread optimized for high-scrub applications. The tire’s compounding is engineered for added wear performance and durability with a 10,000-pound load-carrying capacity. A buttress protector is designed to help reduce sidewall cutting and curb damage, while the company’s proprietary e-balance technology helps provide added wear performance.

Double CoinDouble Coin’s RR706 mixed-service all-position truck tire is designed for the construction, waste and refuse industries. The tire, available initially in size 12R24.5, has a durable casing and tread compounds engineered to help withstand high-scrub environments. Also planned are sizes 315/80R22.5 with a 10,000-pound single-tire load capacity, 11R22.5 and 11R24.5.

CMAFinally, we wind things up with not just one tire but a couple of entire lineups. CMA recently launched its Duraturn brand of commercial tires. The TBR line comes in all applications with more than 85 SKUs available, including models for steer, drive, trailer and mixed service tires, with several EPA Smartway-verified for low rolling resistance applications.

DaytonAlso, Bridgestone Commercial’s latest selection of Dayton truck tires consists of eight patterns that doubles the brand’s product coverage for small fleets and owner-operators in a multitude of segments. The lineup features expanded size and ply rating offerings and three SmartWay-verified options.
