Flatbedders, when’s the last time you shared a securement tip or trick with four-wheeling friends and family?

If reader Joseph Stelzer‘s experience is any indication, we might ought to do that more often. In just the latest example of sloppy mattress securement, which can have deadly consequences, Stelzer was driving northbound on the Benicia-Martinez Bridge in the Bay Area in North California this past December when, as captured in the video from his dashcam shown above, a pickup making its way by him betrayed the need for such tips. As Stelzer simply put it: “I was almost hit by a flying mattress.”

Beware those crosswinds, drivers — and flying mattresses.
