I-10 eastbound near Phoenix will be closed between Friday night, Feb. 9, and Sunday morning, Feb. 11.Interstate 10 west of downtown Phoenix will be closed this weekend as Arizona Department of Transportation crews work to reconstruct ramps as part of the construction of a new freeway in the area.
Eastbound I-10 will close between 59th and 43rd avenues from 10 p.m. Friday, Feb. 9, to 5 a.m. Sunday, Feb. 11. The eastbound I-10 on-ramps will also be closed at 75th, 67th and 59th avenues.
To avoid delays on the interstate, ADOT suggests taking the Loop 101 west of I-17, or exiting I-10 sooner and taking local streets to go around the closure. A detour will lead drivers to exit at 59th Avenue and take either Van Buren Street or McDowell Road before returning to I-10 at 43rd Avenue.
In order to build the new freeway, Loop 202, several I-10 ramps will be removed and reconstructed to tie into a wider I-10 that will include ramps to and from the new freeway when it opens in late 2019.
